CARL FROCH TURNS HERMIT TO SAVE BOXING CAREER
21st July 2010 By Steve Lillis CARL FROCH will sacrifice being with the loves of his life – to save his boxing career. The former WBC super-middleweight champion will move into Rotherham’s Hellaby Hall Hotel for 10 weeks to prepare for his make-or-break fight against Arthur Abraham. Froch, 33, must beat the German in Monte Carlo on October 2 to guarantee a semi-final spot in the Super Six World Boxing Classic – the tournament to find the world’s top 168lb fighter. Nottingham’s Froch became a dad for the first time last month when partner Rachael gave birth to their son Rocco. Froch, who lost his unbeaten record to Mikkel Kessler in April, will set up training camp at Sheffield’s English Institute of Sport from Monday. He said: “I just need to concentrate on this fight and have to get away from all distractions. It will be hard leaving my family, but this is such a big fight that my preparations must be spot-on this time.” Froch will be training for Abraham alongside many of Britain’s 2012 Olympic hopefuls who help keep him on his toes. He added: “It rubs off especially in the morning on the running track because they are like gazelles. They are all very quick and sharp. “I have done a bit of sparring with Anthony Agogo, Steve Simmons and Frank Buglioni who have to keep performing well to get picked. “None of them are guaranteed an Olympic place so being around all that energy has put a bounce back in my step. “I take every fight seriously but it can get monotonous doing the same thing, so it is nice to have a few young lads around who are keen to impress and do well for the 2012 Olympics which are massive for them.” Because of the controversy of Froch’s narrow points loss to Kessler, three American judges will score the fight, likely to be on Sky Sports.

I don't think locking himself away will make him any better...mayby fitter but that was never his problem. Put it this way, somehow I don't think either boxer will need to employ the services of Bletchley Park to work out what the others strategy is going to be.
This could be another good entertaining fight. --------------------

QUOTE(hitman_hatton1 @ Jul 21 2010, 12:56 PM) he's gotta keep things a lot tighter. abraham is great in hurtful clusters. i'll be well surprised if froch wins this. surprised that quite a lot of u on here give him a chance actually. I don't actually think it's because Froch is the next Ali or anything but Abrahams is hardly the busiest fighter and as we saw against Drivell, (obviously without the DQ) he was already needing a KO by the 8th due to inactivity. Froch's chin is pretty good and although AA could probably spark him Froch could also just do enough to survive and win a SD. Either way they won't need compubox to calculate the number of punches thrown but they probably will need a Richter Scale to calculate the power of each punch. I think this will be a good un. --------------------

dirrell is a lot more elusive than froch.
that fight was such a damp squib of an ending. abs only had himself to blame admittedly. abs will walk him down and pick him off. -------------------- ![]()
