MANILA, Philippines – Although he refuses to admit it, unbeaten boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. sees eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao as a legitimate threat.
In an interview with Yahoo! Sports’ Kevin Iole, Mayweather acknowledged Pacquiao’s remarkable ability to throw volume punches.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. reluctantly admits Manny Pacquiao throws a lot of punches.
“He’s a pressure fighter,” the American boxer said of Pacquiao.
Mayweather, however, pointed out that Pacquiao tends to commit mistakes with his swarming style of fighting.
“There are a lot of mistakes that he makes… If you make those mistakes with me, you have to pay,” said Mayweather.
The outspoken American boxer also voiced his suspicion on Pacquiao’s successful climb to several weight classes.
Although he was careful not to mention performance enhancing drugs because of his ongoing defamation case with Pacquiao, Mayweather believes the Filipino’s ascent to boxing success seemed unnatural.
“It’s just so crazy that a guy can pop up out of nowhere and become such an amazing fighter,” Mayweather said.
“A guy like me has been doing it since the ’90s, dominating the sport and beating the best out there. This guy just popped up out of nowhere and people are trying to say he’s on the level of a Floyd Mayweather, when I’ve been dominating and doing this for almost 20 years now,” he said.
Iole later noted in his report that Mayweather seemed unaware that Pacquiao won his first world title at the age of 19 in 1998.
Pacquiao clinched the WBC flyweight crown on December 4, 1998.
Mayweather, on the other hand, nabbed his first world title, the WBC super featherweight belt, on October 3, 1998.
“I’m not saying he hasn’t earned the right to face Floyd Mayweather, but I can’t say that [Pacquiao is the best in the world other than me],” Mayweather said.
Mayweather earlier called out Pacquiao, saying that they should fight on May 5.
Pacquiao responded that he's willing to fight the undefeated boxer in the latter part of May with a 50-50 split of revenues.
The Pacquiao-Mayweather super fight, if it pushes through, may turn out to be the most lucrative bout in boxing history.
Pacquiao's boxing trainer, Freddie Roach, claimed that Mayweather is reluctant to face the Filipino.
He said Pacquiao's volume punching might claim Mayweather's first career loss.

I don't even want to see the fight anymore in all honesty. Pacquiao can spin this so many ways to make it clear that it's Mayweather that doesn't truly want the fight.
Pacquiao has fought the better fighters at welterweight, which is sad. In a few years, no one will remember that many of those wins came at catch weights.

Yes. But Pacquiao hasn't been able to handle JMM at any weight. It has less to do with the weight and more to do with the style and height.
It is a style n' height thing. Marquez was constantly going backwards in his last fight, in part ,because he saw that as his best technique2 win, and also in part, because u could tell he was a lil scared n' didn't want 2 take any chances of get get knocked down yet again, or even ko'd. PPL cry robbery, but that's only because in comparison to Pacquiao's other victories, his wins over Marquez are no where near as impressive. I don'yt feel bad 4 Marquez though, if he wanted 2 beat Pacquiao n' be champion, he should've put more effort and came 4ward in some spots. At the end of the day, the fact that Marquez was nearly ko'd in the 1st fight ,n' saved by the bell in the 2nd fight, I would rather be Pacquiao in the trilogy then Marquez. I know knockdowns aren't everything, and Marquez made a great cvomeback in the 1st fight, but it seems funny 2 say u were robbed when u have been knocked doen 4 x times, and yet u could never knockdown your opponent..
If Pacquiao ever fights Mayweather, he can't worry about the counters as much as he did in the last Marquez fight. Pacquiao can't be playing chess w/ Mayweather, it's clear doesn't have the size or really skill 2 do so. He's gotta go in w/ bad intentions, n' effective aggression. Really, the only fighter that can beat Mayweather at his own game is Martinez, n' maybe Khan. PPl can laught at the Khan comment, but i know styles make fights, n' Khan has the right style.

i mean its clear that pac was doing something in them other fights PED'S? don't know and not claiming too BUT I DO KNOW WEIGHT IS HIS MAJOR PROBLEM AS OF NOW all that jumpin up and coming down shit is NO GOOD for any fighter and pac will lose badly to mayweather at this stage BOB knows manny knows manny is at a weak stage right now cause of the weight issue this is 100% and he will come in and be knocked out by foyld and foyld knows he got pac now.
first he exposed him stopping what ever he was doing and now pac will stay looking like a clown EACH FIGHT 100% with some one bigger then him he can not get that weight naturally so he will not fight anyone big what so ever mayweather is out the pic for pac unless he plan to retire cause there will be a hell storm of ??? after mayweather toys with him and then ko his little ass.
or people will brush it off and say well i know folyd was gonna do that damn what took him so long,
and i swear im not bashing pac at all im just saying there will be explaining to do cause it will then be clear to everyone that pac may have been using some kind of peds.

lol. What are u talking about? Any1 may have been on PEDS at one time or another. A lot of fighters fall off quickly , cause of things like their style, their age, genetics, and so on, and not because of PEDS. So let's say if Manny doesn't do great from hear on out, we are 2 automaticallly assume it's because he stopped using PEDS? Who put the Pacquiao is probably on PEDS thing in your head anyways? I'm going to take a wild guess n' say umm, Mayweather.

The way that Mayweather nuthuggers hold on to Floyd's brilliant PEDS theory is really incredible.
Marquez did back up for most of the third fight with Pac, but that doesn't mean he didn't deserve the win.

The kid's got an undefeated record, but presently lacks the bravado of a real warrior. He uses twitter and texting as a negotiation table.
Floyd got the MGM contract, but forgot to write out a fight proposal challenging Pac.
