turbotime's Photo turbotime 04 May 2012

Both will also be making money from the PPV on top of that.

What an ungodly amount of money. Is this the combined highest guarantee ever?

Source- Dan Rafael @danrafaelespn
Nevada commission has received the official contract purse total for@FloydMayweather: $32 million. Plus he will make more off the PPV.

No kidding. Floyd and Cotto will probably cash in around a combined 60 mill. That's only like 10 mill less than the Oscar fight.

Yep, could turn out to be a whole lot of money if the PPV's go as many expect. In this hurting economy though that will hurt numbers somewhat so IMO whatever they turn out to be you could probably tack on a few 100k more in a better one.
:facepalm_turbotime:

People are fucked. No matter how much money is made, there can always be more.

I fully expect articles in coming days and weeks to criticize Floyd and fighters the like for destroying boxing with their purses.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Why should Floyd risk fighting Pac (even if considered a small risk) when he's cashing $40 million dollar checks fighting Miguel Cotto?

Doesn't make good business sense, and as we gathered long ago, Floyd is a business man. Making that kind of money, I can't say I knock him for it.

Damn Floyd, cut me a mill! That's all I need!! Surely he can have it written off as charity!

I do feel that making that kind of money for 45 minutes at most of being in the ring is a bit much...
Do you feel that way when a Hedge fund manager makes that much just sitting at home watching stocks climb? There are people all over this world collecting checks off blind trusts where they don't even control what the money is invested in. They just get a check. At least FMJ is risking his brand. FMJ is putting his product in the ring. It is a ridiculous amount of money but if you want to have that type of conversation athlete pay is low on my list of over paid people. FMJ is doing something just about no one else could. He isn't just lucky to have been in the right place at the right time. FMJ's ability would be successful any place at any time.

Not only that, but it's an entertainment business. People in entertainment get paid a lot.

What does Kim K. do exactly ?? She just gets paid to let cameras follow her around while she just vacations and shops.
At least FMJ has a real job.

I think the highest was Oscar vs Floyd if I am not mistaken.  We know Oscar ended up walking away with $54 mill but not sure of the guarantee.

54 mil buys lots of h00kers, blow, and desert resort rehab stays.

You don't have to get your panties in a twist... I even said the guy was risking his health for his money and that he was a star so that's the way it is... I never said it's to much ... I never said anything negative about it but that it was a lot of money for 45 minutes of ring time. I don't care how much the guy makes... it's his health and his money.
I wasn't being pissy. It just seems people in general tend to comment a lot of how much athletes make while ignoring the egregious amounts many others in various industries make.

I dunno bro, there may be some truth to that.  Being a fan of a fighter cost bucks nowadays.

Blame GBP if you want to blame someone. They whore themselves out to get a piece of a Mayweather superfight, and in turn, take a risk with PPV sales.
