Anybody staying up for this?
Its on Sky Sports 1 tonight/this morning at 2am.
Its in LA Staples so I reckon it'll be another 5am start. I very much doubt I'll make it.
In fact I'm almost certain I be giving it the old bouncing rubber neck around 01.30am. Sucks being old.

Not intentionally, but I've not had more than a few hours sleep per night due to insomonia in months, so you never know.

I know it's a broken jaw and it shouldn't be down played. But countless other boxers have fought through the pain of a broken jaw and even some of them have gone on to win. I ain't seen the fight yet, sounds good. Definitely something not right with Ortiz's temperament. From Maidana, then Mayweather.... something not right with the kid. But then he can go all out against the likes of Berto.
It's a strange one with Ortiz, he's got the talent but fights like a fucking lunatic. Must be so frustrating for his trainer.

He has a seriously leaky defense, I couldn't believe how easy Peterson was finding the right hand in the second half of their fight
To beat Ortiz all you have to do is weather the early storm, dig in and put pressure on him and he'll fold

I agree with both of you.
Danny Williams fought and KO'd Potter with a dislocated right arm and Arthur Abraham beat Miranda over 12 rounds after breaking his jaw in two places in round five. The guy just quit very easily imo based on others who had similar injuries.
You could see as soon as Lopez began beckoning Ortiz in (which I thought at the time was a display of daft bravado considering on both occasions he did this he had just been battered from pillar to post), Ortiz immediately began to retreat. It was as if Ortiz was suddenly scared that this man had willingly sucked up everything he had thrown and was now happily asking for more.

Yep I noticed that, his ass dropped. Definitely something missing with Ortiz when it comes to the old mental aspect of the game. Shame really because whilst he's obviously not elite class he is still a very exciting boxer to watch and he could easily be a fans favourite in the same sense as Gatti was because of his fighting style. Sadly, I think the quitter stigma will stick with him from now on.

Thinking about it, it's probably a wise move by Ortiz in the long run and for his health. Obviously he will have to put up with more ' quitter ' remarks off people, but It must not be very healthy for someone to have a broken jaw and carry on getting cracked on it. Could easily do permanent damage when you think about it.
Have we had the word it's deffo broken ?
