Good points all around. And I hope you're right. Makes for a great second fight and I love rivalries. I just don't get rooting for a guy who cheats, albeit somehow, now, legally.

If you are like me, you expect that everyone cheats.  Some just get caught.

In that line of thinking, no one is cheating.

There is no way in hell that Randy Couture was clean toward the end.  No way Dan Henderson is clean.  I don't care.  Makes for better fights.

Yeah, it gets out of hand with some guys (Overeem) who don't appear to be human.  That's about where I draw the line I guess.

Absolutely correct.  Long term, Sonnen is not what you'd call an exciting main attraction.

The difference here being, any sort of win over Silva is ground breaking.

If GSP were to have beaten Anderson with a five round leg hump fest, that too would have lauded as marvelous.

I'll say this about Sonnen's GnP.  It isn't Clay Guida poosy style slapping and humping to make it LOOK as if something is happening, when really nothing is going on.  Chael throws punches in bunches.  He's trying to do damage.  His problem.. can't hurt anyone with his punches.  Weird stuff to be that great of an athlete, but punch like Forrest Griffin.

Yup. IMO, Chael does a lot more than LnP. He does work. However, in rewatching their first fight, it's amazing how many more punches Chael landed, yet how much more damage Anderson's did. Chael's landing over and over again but every once in a while, Anderson sneaks in a surgical elbow or straight shot that's worth 10 or more of Chael's punches.

I guess. But in cycling off it it in time to piss clean for a fight, you tend to equalize the illegal advantages. But for guys who fail to do that (Marquardt, Sonnen, etc.) and are allowed to keep fighting, they have too much of an advantage.

You could say similar things about Nate Marquardt's effort against Sonnen.  Chael outlanded him 10-1, but it was Sonnen that was bleeding all over the place.  Nate was a hair away from pulling off a choke too.

I think Sonnen's skin just cuts like tissue paper.
