Chavez Fails Drug Test! Arum 'happ...

Weed found in his system!

Dumb bastard.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission found traces of marijuana in Julio Cesar Chavez,Jr.'s urine test taken after his 12 round loss to Sergio Martinez last Saturday night.

No news yet on results of the pre-fight test for potential performance enhancing substances.

Loyal and very happy promoter Bob Arumdefended his young cash cow by outing himself and the entire boxing promotion business.

Dan Rafael of espn.comreported that Arum said, "I can't really get excited about it. There's no promoter in boxing who could pass the marijuana test, including myself."

Having been on interminable tele-conference calls touting upcoming fights, I now better understand why they can seem a bit....off.

Chavez Jr. was portrayed in HBO's 24/7 documentaryseries as a guy who listens to no one but himself and hasn't for a very long time.

He humiliated trainer Freddie Roach who was forced to train him, if he ever showed up, in the middle of the night.

The kind way of speaking about Chavez is that he "travels to the beat of a different drum." Now we know it's not a drum involved, it's probably a bong.

It's his second time failing a test in the state of Nevada. Even Arum's clout and admission of his own transgressions can't prevent some punishment from coming down.

The previous positive test result was for a diuretic that is used to cover up steroid use along with its more common use in weight reduction.

The 26 year-old boxer was called immature by Arum. When does maturity occur in his case?

Probably not until he doesn't believe he can pull out a victory after losing all or most of 11 rounds in a 12 roundchampionship bout.

That's the story line from Saturday night for Chavez.

"Hey, I almost pulled off the miracle. If I'd only started a couple of rounds earlier I'd be wearing all the belts", he said in other words.

Smoking weed during a pre-fight training period shouldn't make him a bad guy. It just might make him someone that has a problem laying off the stuff for a couple of months.

If not, then Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. is as cocky and disrespectful of the sport as the victorious Sergio Martinez said he was.

Either way, he's looking at a financial penalty and some time out of the ring. All it does for Arum is put off the re-match, as he waits for great news on the pay-per-view numbers.

Arum can pass the time listening to Cheech and Chong, while passing the J to and from his boxing promoter pals. Right?

Old news, but not the actions of an athlete. Beer, fry ups and coke.
