READY TO RUMBLE: Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson is coming to Auckland.

Mike Tyson has been granted a visa to enter New Zealand, according to his promoters.

Publicity and promotions company Markson Sparks, who are promoting Tyson's speaking tour in New Zealand and Australia, released a statement earlier tonight to announce that the former heavyweight boxing world champion would be allowed to enter the country.

"Mike Tyson, youngest ever world heavy weight boxing champion and star of The Hangover movies has been granted a visa to visit New Zealand," the statement said.

Tyson will speak at Mike Tyson's Day of the Champions on November 15 at Auckland's Vector Arena.

Tyson was convicted of rape in 1992. He served three years of his six-year sentence.

There were concerns that the conviction may prevent him entering New Zealand for the first time to speak in Auckland.

Tyson held a press conference from Las Vegas in August to talk about his speaking tour of New Zealand and Australia when he said he wouldn't beg to enter the country.

"If I don't come it is unfortunate. I'm not going to sit here and plead and beg to come to your country. If I can't come it would be my misfortune. I don't want to feel like I'm on trial because of your country."

Since his conviction over 20 years ago, Tyson has travelled through many countries in Europe, South American and Asia.

His motivational speaking show, which recently finished a two-week Broadway stint under director Spike Lee, details how he turned his life around after drug dependency and spells in prison.

"I'm so excited to be visiting Australia and New Zealand for the first time. I have lots of friends there and look forward to meeting all my fans," Tyson said.
