The Gilroy southpaw has been through more than his share of challenges during his soon to be 30 years in the garlic capital of the world. Dealing with his wife Casey's leukemia, a nasty separation from his previous promoter Dan Goossen, and failure to get fights he was in line for, have hardened the soft spoken dedicated Christain. A man of deep faith, Robert Guerrero is about to realize his dream in the squared circle. His destiny and legacy will be determined May 4th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas when he collides with undefeated Floyd "Money" Mayweather. Guerrero believes he will shock the boxing world by upsetting the 43-0 brash pay per view king. At 31-1, Robert's credentials may not compare to that of Floyd considering the level of opposition, and certainly the hype machine behind the fighter. Mayweather has legions of lawyers, advisors and endless groupies. Guerrero's entourage is a handful of true supporters. This David vs. Goliath scenario will be played out in the coming weeks, and although "The Ghost" has deviated a bit from his mild mannered persona by speaking up, his moral and competitive compass remains true. Mayweather attempted but failed in his effort to intimidate Guerrero at last weekends photo shoot for Showtime in Vegas. Floyd could not provoke Robert with his face to face disrespectful strategy. Meanwhile the fathers of the fighters are holding nothing back in their true distaste for one another. Ruben and Floyd Sr. have been challenging each other to parking lot brawls and in ring fisticuffs which would provide great entertainment, but at the end of the day, it's all about maximizing interest in May 4th. Now that Casey is cancer free thanks to a bone marrow transplant, Robert Guerrero's lazer focus on the task at hand is absolute. He may not pull off the huge upset, but Guerrero will not back down and shrink in the moment when stakes are the highest, as many of Mayweather's victims have in the past.
