George Groves says Gennady Golovkin could move down in weight to face Floyd Mayweather

George Groves would prefer to see Gennady Golovkin go down - and face Floyd Mayweather. The European super-middleweight champion watched the middleweight king win again, on Live Fight Night Internatonal in the early hours of Sunday morning.

"There's so many names in and around the light-middleweight division that there are so many great fights that can be made." - Groves on Golovkin

Groves and fellow pundit Jamie Moore agreed there is little left for 'GGG' in his current division following the second round knockout of Marco Antonio Rubio, who had failed to make the middleweight limit by two pounds. And although Groves would welcome him to the super-middleweight scene, the man who has sparred and trained with him before believes there are bigger fights for Golovkin beneath him – especially against the best in the world.

"I'd love to see it," Groves told Sky Sports about the possibility of Golovkin and Mayweather fighting. "When I went out to train with him and hazarded a guess.....
