David Lemieux to make U.S. debut

By Dan Rafael | ESPN.com

Montreal middleweight David Lemieux, one of boxing's most fearsome punchers, will make his U.S. debut when he takes on Gabriel Rosado on Dec. 6 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The scheduled 12-round fight will headline an HBO-televised tripleheader, Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya told ESPN.com on Monday.

He also outlined the plans for the rest of the card, which will include a middleweight bout between James De La Rosa and Hugo Centeno. A welterweight bout between hot prospect Frankie Gomez and Thomas Dulorme is also in the works.

"Lemieux is a very exciting fighter and a big puncher," De La Hoya said. "We made a deal with him for this fight. He's in an exciting weight class and the ultimate prize for anyone at 154 or 160 pounds is to face Canelo Alvarez, and David Lemieux fits into that picture perfectly. The guy comes at you like a Mack truck. We're going to do some good things with him. He has a great record, amazing power and is a great looking kid."...

The ultimate prize isn't to face Mayweather? Two belts and higher ppv#'s than Canelo? Or Cotto even... since he's already at Middleweight?

Good fight. I am glad Rosado still got a fight for December after Kirkland fell out of yet another fight again. This should be an action packed card.

Guy hasn't won a fight since 2012 yet here he is headlining on HBO.

That's right. Funny how a fighters career can go from BKB to main card on HBO! I guess it helps being vocal and entertaining!

It's a good way for HBO to get another card done for not a lot of money.

Great matchup, should be a classic, I'd definitely favor Rosado via stoppage
