The Dropkick Murphys frontman promotes boxing card in Massachusetts

Ken Casey Joins Making The Rounds

Dropkick Murphys singer Ken Casey speaks with Jim Basquil and Brian Campbell about how he got into boxing, the similarities to the music industry and the card he's promoting Oct. 30 with Danny O'Connor facing Andrew Farmer. As the bassist and frontman for the Boston-based Celtic punk band Dropkick Murphys, Ken Casey has never strayed far from his love for boxing.

"The band has always had a connection to boxing," Casey said. "One of our earliest albums from 1998 has a song about John L. Sullivan, the bare knuckle champ. Then Micky Ward was on the cover of our 2005 album and there's a song about him on it called 'The Warrior's Code.'"

Years later, Casey, a native of Milton, Massachusetts, is right in the middle of the action. After his friendship with welterweight Danny O'Connor led to a role as the fighter's manager, Casey gave up his managerial license to buy out O'Connor's contract from promoter Lou DiBella....
