Ramirez to train with Pacquiao

Welterweight Jose Ramirez, a 2012 U.S. Olympian and one of boxing’s top prospects, has been added to the Top Rank card on Dec. 13 at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.  Former welterweight and junior welterweight titlist Timothy Bradley Jr. headlines the HBO tripleheader against Argentina’s Diego Chaves with Matt Korobov and Andy Lee vying for a vacant middleweight belt and Mauricio Herrera facing Jose Benavidez Jr. in a defense of his interim junior welterweight belt.

Ramirez’s eight-round bout is not scheduled to be part of the HBO broadcast, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if the network aired highlights of his fight. Ramirez does not yet have an opponent. The 22-year-old Ramirez (12-0, 9 KOs) is fresh from an explosive first-round knockout of David Rodela on Oct. 25 at the Selland Arena in Fresno, California -- near his hometown of Avenal -- where Ramirez drew a crowd of about 7,000. He has Top Rank promoter Bob Arum excited about his potential.
