Marcos Maidana Says ‘There Is No Better Fighter Than Manny Pacquiao’

By Rachelle Corpuz | November 4, 2014

Argentine fighter Marcos Maidana, who suffered two straight losses to Floyd Mayweather, is reportedly interested in having a showdown in the boxing ring with eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao. Maidana has been presented several options for his next fight in 2015, such as a rematch with Amir Khan and Adrien Broner, but he is eyeing for a fight with the Filipino boxing icon.

As far as his next fight is concerned, Maidana told Fox Deportes that he doesn't think of any fighter in particular except Pacquiao. "I do not think any other fighter can be better than Pacquiao," Maidana said.

The 31-year-old former World Boxing Association or, WBA welterweight champion said that he is not really interested with a rematch with Broner. Maidana defeated Broner via unanimous in December 2013, but lost to Khan in December 2012.

Maidana just may be correct.

And he would get paid well in a fight with Pac.

But it's also likely he pads Mannys KO victory column.

Both guys are aggressive. Maidana doesn't have the speed or accuracy. Nor the chin. Nor the stamina. Has a good punch. But Pac has more power.

Would enjoy seeing this fight if for no other reason than to see the fireworks.

Doubt it happens. Pac seems to want to risk a huge boxer to prepare him for a Floyd bout right after. Maidana would be great prep for a provod ikon fight. Algieri better for a Floyd fight. Going to need quite a few rounds to dial in the range.

From my understanding it was Broner's camp who turned down the immediate rematch.

Yep.

On Youtube he says he wants it.

At the negotiation table he says "no thank you."

Agreed.  MM might get beat, but he would have a chance of laying leather on Pac.

Entertaining maybe, but not great.  I wouldn't pay to see it.
