Kelty boxer Connor Law ready for professional bow

KELTY fighter Connor Law is set to finally make his professional boxing debut in Motherwell tonight (Saturday). The 22-year-old announced in September that he was leaving the amateur ranks after he missed out on a place at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and was scheduled to make his pro bow in October. But ongoing back trouble caused by a horror car crash in April - just four days before his ‘box-off’ with Lewis Benson that saw him miss out on the Games - forced him to postpone his first bout as a professional.

He will however feature in the ‘Into the Furnace’ event, presented by Chris Gilmour and Prospect Boxing, at the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Centre and Law is confident that his injury problems will not stop him putting in a memorable performance for his fans.

He said, “I’ve got a lot of friends and family coming through to support me and there’ll be nothing better than having a group of Fifers cheering me on in the hall. The injury is coming on and it won’t stop me going out there and giving my all. I’m on the road to recovery and as long I can get through the fight then I can see about treatment afterwards.
“I’m new to the pro game but I have 100 per cent self belief that I can do damage. Winning Scottish titles and gold at the Tammer tournament shows I can do it at world level in the amateurs - now I need to see if I can do it in the pros.”...
