Scott Quigg retains WBA super-bantamweight title against Hidenori Othake

SCOTT QUIGG easily retained his WBA super-bantamweight title with a wide points win over Japan’s Hidenori Othake

The Bury fighter claimed the win with the judges making him a comfortable winner with scores of 119-109, 119-109 and 118-110 on the undercard of tonight’s huge grudge match between Nathan Cleverly and Tony Bellew in Liverpool.

Quigg said: “It was a very tough fight. He took some good shots.”

Promoter Eddie Hearn now wants his man to take on one of the division’s other world champions –Carl Frampton, Leo Santa Cruz or Guillermo Rigondeaux.

Eddie Hearn: “He is ready for those fights, we will push for those fights and hopefully others come to the table.”
Quigg controlled the early rounds against the fairly limited Othake.....
