Tony Bellew avenges defeat by Nathan Cleverly with points win... in front of Balotelli!

TONY BELLEW avenged his defeat by Nathan Cleverly with a points win over his bitter rival.

The Liverpool cruiserweight backed himself to send the Welshman to sleep – but he had to settle for a win on the cards even if Cleverly appeared to have hurt his right hand in the fourth round.

It was not the stunning scrap that everyone - including the watching Liverpool star Mario Balotelli - was hoping for but Bellew will not be overly bothered as he got one over the man he shows real disdain for.

The biggest shock of the night was the split decision with judge Terry O’Connor giving it 115-114 for Cleverly but thankfully the other two officials gave it to the worthy winner.

Bellew said: “I’m over the moon. It’s over, put to bed. I don’t like him. It’s been settled. It’s done. “There won’t be a hug. But there is respect.”
