Good thread,
Mate im in the same mind as you.
Ive been lifting weights whilst running daily for the last 6 years.
So its not like IVe been a meat head. Just someone who likes to stay fit.
But I joined a commercial gym 18 months ago and I have seen how steroids are rife.
I have seen skinny milky bar like kids come in 18 lanky and shit and go on the juice and after seeing them again 6 months they are built and look like matt hughes.
There is so much of it around and i see your temptation.
Seeing these pricks motivated me to concentrate on strength and i have to tell u bro, what they say about a good protein shake, rest and regular training is true.
Without any kind of creatine (which is overrated and makes me lightheaded and fatter) I did a good clean weights cycle for 3 months (no cardio other than 1 x 2 mile run a week) and I increased by bench from 90kg on average 6-7 reps up to 90kg 13-12 reps and 100kg bench on average 6-7 reps without any juice and creatine.
Still I dont like that much bigger and i got to tell u those punks who take the juice I have seem them look the part even if their strength and cardio is dire.
A close friend of mine was quite strong, but he looked weak. He took steroids on a continuos cycle for 12 months plus and i saw how he changed.
He walked out on his wife and kids, and started getting mood swings and fighting. He dyed his hair blonde (ps he;s indian) and started hanging out in shopping malls trying to chat up teenagers. All fine pursuits except he is 35 and has a teenage daughter himself. I have seen how he has a new girlfriend every month, I have seen how his brainis fucked and he has acne on his back. His eyebrows seem more thick and his hands bigger.
He is also seeing a counselling group for therapy.
Still his is an extreme example of what I have seen. The other guys got bigger without me seeing any erratic behaviour.
Great post and much respect to you for not going the easy route with the roids Mugabi. In life much is the temptation to choose the endulgance of the toy rather than take the responsibilty of the sword. (Those familiar with Samurai tradition will know what Im on about).
Hope you make the right choice for yourself Zoron, all the best and let us know how you get on.
