Its a natural thing to be nervous and Like the PRof said that prepares you fro what your about to do. Its also in a way one of the hardest aspects of the game, if it wasn't for those nerves there would be many more boxers.
In regards to nerves before sparring try and relax and enjoy it, enjoy the learning experience,
if you get caught with a good shot laugh it off rather than cursing and tensing and drawing attention to it. Energy follows attention so like all the other guys have said before a fight you want to visualise an exellent performance, think about how hard you have trained and what great condition your in. Evntually thoe nerves wil become more of an exciting buzz and your abilityt o let go and relax will refine your performance.
Lastly I would say that win or lose personally speaking the feeling after a fight is immense, its a great sense of achievement because you have ut your body and mind to the test. Not many people can say they have done it. Go for it mate and stay positive. Keep at it.
Peace
u've touched on a very good point here!!!! i tell my guys that how we train is how we fight. so if ur the kind of guy that gets down on himself every time u make a mistake u'll be doing the same thing come fight time. that can cost u big time because ur opponent will capitalize on it and the judges will be swayed by ur reactions as well. u should always work thru ur mistakes. half the time...the only one that knows u've made a mistake is urself. work thru it. never stop....just go back to it and get it right the second time if u missed it the first time.
also, ur ritual to get ready in training/sparring should be the same or similar to ritual to get ready for fighting. sometimes sparring will be tougher than the actual fight. learn to approach it all the same. the more u do it....the easier it will become.....the more relaxed u will be. sometimes to get my guys more accustomed to sparring i'll doing sparring drills. usually targeted at things like jabs or defense....or footwork...or sometimes...strictly body punches....each time i'll step it up for them until they'll become so comfortable it all becomes second nature.
