Huge Rumor Regarding Ultimate Fighter Season 8 Coaches
Posted by Dustin James on 04.17.2008

Have they already been named......

CagePotato.com is reporting that season 8 of the Ultimate Fighter will feature current UFC Heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and former UFC Heavyweight champion Frank Mir as coaches. The two would then square off in a fight on PPV at the end of the season.

The UFC has yet to confirm this, however an announcement is expected to be made at UFC 83 this weekend.

Doesn't really sound that interesting to me..

Wow. The heavyweight division of the UFC doesn't look that much better than the heavyweight division in boxing. I guess this shows that if Lesnar was able to get past Mir he would have gotten a title shot a lot sooner than I thought.

I dont know if I believe it. I could believe Nog, but not Mir. They cant be that desperate for HW coaches. I mean, the HW division would be more enticing had Couture, Sylvia and Arlovski not left the organization.

Work with what you have, I would now assume they will be training heavyweights. Build an in house stable. Name and face recognition from Spike and the show. The heavyweights did take a gutting. Dana,s fault. He was prob right tho not to let the russian maffia in just to get Fedor. unsure.gif

He has BJ, soon to be GSP, Anderson, Rampage, and Nog as champs. From LH down to 155 its packed with talent. I can wait for the heavyweights to build.

Dana did Big Tim a favor so he can get a shot at Fedor and perhaps a few more big paydays. smile.gif I am sure Tim feels the same way. mellow.gif

Saturday nite. It is an easy choice between GSP/Serra and this boxing..um Nard..vs Cal...yawn..

Nog vs Mir wouldn't be all that competitive in my eyes. Nog is better than Mir when it comes to converting black belt level BJJ into MMA and he also has much better stand up than Mir.

They better come better than that.

What I really don't like about this TUF coaching is the guys end up on the sidelines for too long. Granted Rampage did have an injury after his Henderson fight but he'll have been out of the ring for 10 months when he fights Griffin in July.

Mir makes sense to me, not from his ranking standpoint but he will make a great coach for TV.

If Vera gets by Werdum in June I'm sure he'd jump at the chance. When is TUF8 due for filming?

The show begins filming in May. The weight classes will be 155lbs and 205lbs.

What. That is the much more meaningful and compelling fight. On paper Serra doesn't even belong in the same ring as GSP.

I think Vera needs to get more active after his next fight forget coaching on TUF plus he has already beat Mir so there wont be much interest in that fight.

on paper is the key term.

smile.gif Im going to PVR the boxing. If I hear it was anything other than a close somewhat controversial victory for Cal...and it was exciting...i might watch it. mellow.gif

Im paying for the GSP/Serra fight. There is no comparison. This is the fight of the MMA season unless GSP and Anderson tangle at some point.

Bigger than Fedor /Couture ninja.gif Fecking grandad...

Well I agree. That's why the have the fights but it isn't as if the Serra, GSP bout screamed guaranteed barn burner. It is just a rematch for a title belt in which the guy who has earned the rematch should have dominated the opponent the first time around. Could it be a great fight. Yes. But it could also be Lennox Lewis versus Oliver McCall or Hassim Rahman part 2. The Joe Calzaghe and Bernard Hopkins fight is one that should have happened a long time ago and represents a really interesting clash of styles and is being fought by two guys looking to permanently etch their names on the history books.

The Hopkins/Calzaghe fight is potentially an excellent fight but it is also a fight that is far more meaningful for its sport.
