It appears that former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski will make his boxing debut on the undercard to Joel Casamayor vs. Juan Manuel Marquez on September 13 on HBO pay-per-view. According to Dan Rafael, the fight will be the opening bout on the Las Vegas card.
Arlovski is by no means quitting MMA. He is scheduled to fight on the Affliction pay-per-view on July 19 at the Honda Center in California, facing Ben Rothwell in the co-feature. Arlovski is being trained for his stint in boxing by world-class trainer Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Gym in California. Arlovski, based on some of UFC bouts, is better at giving a punch than taking one. The gloves in MMA are much smaller, but the punches will be coming from athletes who are far better punchers than the opponents who knocked him out in MMA competition.

Suprising since I'm guessing he is going to be fighting for extremely small money on this card when he is probably going to be making well into the six figure range to fight Ben Rothwell later this month.
If this is televised, watch for the HBO crew to take a massive shit on Arlovski.

I wish Andrei luck.
I like him and hes no doubt among the best strikers in the heavyweight division in MMA. And in boxing hes likely going to take on a mediocre journeyman. If hes not going to continue with boxing I dont see why hes doing this though.
Freddie Roach said BJ Penn and AA are the best MMA strikers that hes seen up close. Some good praise from Roach.

Hope he can make as much money in boxing as he did in MMA but even with such a shitty heavyweight he wouldn't be close to contending...
But who knows at least he's on the right path with Freddie Roach..

Arlovski has very good handspeed for his size and good technique when it comes to PUNCHING as far as overall technique he has decent footwork but he leaves his chin up in the air too much. Hopefully Freddie is working with him on this.
I can't help but think Arlovski would be a pretty good pro boxer but I think his chin will fail him.

he should be fighting a no hoper as it is his debut and then move up the ladder.
he had decent power in UFc, but heavyweight boxing will be a little different.

I think if nothing else it will help him in MMA. It will get some airtime, you can be sure of that.

He picked a good trainer to get him ready for his first pro boxing match. I hope they show highlights if it's not televised.
