If you do weights full time is it possible to get rid of the tightness in your muscles that effects your freedom of movement!!!

Any tricks

Streching helps a little, the muscles around my elbos are the main problem, when i throw straight long punches they tighten, i can throw short punches pretty freely.

What about putting ice packs on your muscles, does that work!!!

I'm missing something, Eric. Are you a fighter? If yes, then why are you lifting weights full time?

joejabber posted something years ago which i've always found helpful, use the muscles that aren't sore and get the blood and lactic acid moving. if your upper body is sore, run. if your legs are sore, do something like shadow boxing.

it's worked for me well when muscles have been sore, to be honest the only time my muscles have been sore lately is when i try to run long distances b/c i have big legs. i take BSN's nitrix, CE2 for creatine, and muscle milk for protein.

you ever tried plyometrics to shock your muscles? i've always been quick but never a very fast runner until i started them. plyometric push ups helped me finally bench 300lbs. which i've been working on for a while, i weigh 195..

Light weights, high volume of reps and sets.

Once you look how you want to look, you lift light just to sustain and cut. Watch the Ultimate Warrior working out on youtube- awfully light weights for such a big person.

i guess it depends on what you consider sore.. when i use the word i'm talking about hurting whenever i move it. i haven't had that in awhile, thought i'm always fatigued with something at sometime.

the nitrix from BSN is about 15$ cheaper and works just as well, you might want to give it a whirl. did you get the sarmx from gnc?

But after he does light weights he could do heavier weights then a bit heavier and then lighter again, it's called tricking your muscles, body builders do that, it's believed that that builds bigger muscles than doing reps with just one weight, must be a pain in the butt though.
But who knows, doing a lot of reps of light weights could build big muscles, i heard a story that this guy built up his chest huge from just doing 300 push ups a day.

Thanks, good advice, doing none is probably best but light weights won't hurt, joe calzaghe doesn't do weights, he uses resistance bands set on a low resistance, in the old days they didn't do weights.

exactly...and get full extension without locking ur joints. stretching helps...but changing the way u lift is more effecient. also...try shadow boxing for at least half the amount of time u spend lifting. don't worry about speed...focus more on form and technique.

I guess you would depend on what tightness your talking about (no jokes please gents). Are you talking about muscle bulk or actual reduced range of motion?

Most fighters tend to work the arms and shoulders across the body so the chest muscles, anterior muscles of the shoulder and the internal rotators are often strong and tight which results in a muscles imbalance. The muscles in the back the posterior shoulder muscles are often lengthened and weak. This decreases the range in which your arms can move and can limit power for that individual. If you imagine a tight muscle as a long jumper, long jumper with a longer run up can create more speed before take off, where as a long jumper who has less of a run up will create less speed. The run up being the range of movement. There are a lot of other variables involved but thats just a quick example.

Some stretches you might want to hit up would be your chest/pec stretches, your overhead bends to hit your lats and you would also want to make sure your working your back and shoulder blade muscles as they influence the control of the punching actions. Ideally you should be doing a lot of shadow boxing so your neural pathways fire quickly and finally as someone already mentioned plyometrics is great for increasing fast twitch muscle use as well as sequencing.

train hard gents and keep the faith

Peace

One of the few things we could "sneak" into the Barracks from the MCX in Boot Camp...Stuff works great but smells like buttcrack when you wake up after putting some on the night before.

Ooof...When I went to Military School, this dude named Ownby got caught whackin' his pud. He went to the library and while he was gone we squeezed a tube of Ben Gay in his shampoo.

Did the same thing to his friend Slemp (they were from the same town in Oklahoma) when he got caught too...It was priceless watching them do the exaggerated potty dance, followed by shady itching and sweating, topped with them holding their sacks for about 5 minutes while doubled over in pain in a matter of seconds only to crawl to the head and spend another 30 minutes in the shower trying to get that shit off. They locked up their hygiene gear after that.

Dude, sounds like you are arm-punching. Are you moving your hips and feet w/ your shots? Also, shadowbox w/ 2-8lb weights and when you do, hyper-extend all your punches but be easy or you WILL get tennis-elbow.

Try warm up exercises like jumping jacks an arm circles, shoulder rolls get your mucles loose then practices punches. I also Do warm up punches light easy punches to loosen up the arms. I do 50 straight punches then 50 hooks an 50 upper cuts twice over. Then I shadowbox full speed.
D35TR00
Dude, shadow box at least six rds after warming up and over-exaggerate each punch.
