Full Version: Running On A Treadmill Everyday

Anything wrong with running on a treadmill everyday? I use to run outside but here in BC, it's basically rain everyday. I use to run a couple of times a week but now have began running on a treadmill for about 20 minutes everyday. I have heard people say you should take a break every couple of days. But my legs feel fine, so is it alright?

Do you keep a bottle of whiskey close by?

i don't know too much about treadmills as all my running was outside regardless of what the weather was like, and i'm in england, so it's mostly rain.

i can't see the treadmill being that bad, and i ran outside near enough everyday mostly on concrete which i think is supposed to be even worse for joints and knees than the treadmill.

are you boxing, or just doing it for fitness?

alot of people surely go to the gym on treadmills nearly everyday.

Treadmill doesn't put as much stress on your joints as running outside on concrete does so if you're not aching, you should be ok, especially as it's only 20 minutes.

If your legs feel fine then more power to you but why only 20 mins??? You are doing other training, RIGHT?

Treadmills could be hard on the knees. Ellipticals are probably your best bet. There is a very good cheap one called the Gazelle. See the pics below;

You should really try to get out for a run every once in a while though.

I use to go to a boxing gym by my house all the time but don't go as much right now because of school. I just go to workout at the gym to stay in somewhat decent shape because I eat a lot of junk.

I usually run hard on the treadmill for 10 minutes then jog for another 10. I also do the elliptical for 10 minutes. I sometimes use the bench and other machines at the gym but mostly workout at home and stick to pushups, sit ups and bicep curls. Also do squats.

It was an honest question, slick. Aren't you the guy that drinks before classes and shit?

Get out of here with this stuff, sad to see an administrator bringing nothing of value to a thread. I'm sure you know where the lounge is, run your ass over there.

boo hoo

Ok, back to your question. I've been told by trainers that a treadmill is less impact on your knees then running on concrete. Some people prefer to run outside though for numerous reasons....fresh air, scenary etc.

Dilly, there is no problem with running on a treadmill everyday. Just make you stretch enough so that your legs don't become stiff or swore. People got to the gym everyday and do cardio/running so I doubt anything bad will happen.

I actually enjoy running outside much more then running on a treadmill but way too much rain to make it worth it..
