It has been said in a radio interview (not sure if its true or B.S from Dana) in Sacremento with Dana White that Tito Ortiz is officially out of his July rematch with Ken Shamrock and Forrest Griffin will step up and take on (aka take out) Ken Shamrock at UFC 61.

This is a must win for both fighters, Forrest just lost to Tito and cant afford a loss to a faded Shamrock and Ken needs a win badly to regain his credibility (he is 1-3 in his last four fights) and a loss to someone Tito just beat would damage his credibility heading into the rematch. I'm ready to order this fight now.

Dana also apparently said that Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski will fight again in July.

What do you guys think?

hate to say it, but i told you so tongue.gif i thought Forrest would be the natural replacement for Tito with his popularity rising all the time and his recent showing against Tito. imo this makes for a good fight

yeah, you did tell me so tongue.gif and I'm glad you did. This fight excites me. Should be a solid win for Forrest.

The fact that a lot of people thought Griffin won makes a fight with Shamrock even more interesting. Even better news is the news of a rubber fight between Tim Sylvia and Andre Arlovski. I predict another 1st round KO!!

Arlovski takes the third one EASY, and the fourth and fifth and the sixth.

got this from mmaweekly which pretty much confirms it: Tito Ortiz has had a love hate relationship with the UFC. Right now it seems the word "hate" is how the current relationship stands with Zuffa. Ortiz was set for a showdown with Ken Shamrock but it appears that fight will not happen.

UFC President Dana White announced on 1140 KHTK Sacramento radio over the weekend on the The Carmichael Dave Show that Tito pulled out of the fight with Shamrock and will now be replaced by Forrest Griffin. White said that Griffin asked for the fight. Ken and Forrest will fight July 8th at the Mandalay Bay with Andrei Arlovski and Tim Sylvia as the main event. Dana said, "It's always something" with Tito.

The UFC President also said that he scored Forrest as the winner when Griffin fought Ortiz. Zuffa CEO Lorenzo Fertitta scored it a draw with Forrest winning rounds two and three and Tito winning the first round 10-8. White was also critical of the judging saying judge Abe Balardo should never score another MMA fight again as he scored that fight 30-27 for Ortiz.

White also made some other interesting comments saying the UFC will do a Northern California show very soon and that the UFC "will be on HBO very soon. It will happen."

i think that's a bit harsh from Dana, Tito fought and beat Griffin injured and White comes out in a radio interview and said he thinks Tito lost. its not a good thing to constantly dis your own fighters in public forums or radio shows. wonder how many fighters choose not to fight in the ufc because of Dana White's attitude?

he is taking his shots at Tito. I cant believe Tito isnt fighting Ken though. Ken fought Tito with the exact same injury Tito has and he was 39 years old. Tito is only 31 and Ken has only gotten worse. I'm starting to wonder if Tito might be afraid of the rage Ken has for Tito, the rage may be something Tito is afraid he cannot handle.

I think Griffin will beat Ken. Then Tito and Ken will hopefully fight down the line.

I hate the idea of MMA being on HBO though, Spike TV gets cut out and we are going to get $50 PPV's soon.

Ken did fight Tito with the same injury, infact the injury was worse, the acl was actually torn. but look what happened to Ken, with hindsight, do you think he would say that was a smart decision? Ken actually said himself it's one of the stupidest things he's done, sometimes having too much heart can be a bad thing. I wanna see a Tito and Ken rematch as much as anyone but i also want to see it when both fighters are in full health so we dont get any bullsquirt excuses afterwards that they were hiding injurys and only went ahead for the fans. Tito's a proud guy, as is Ken and neither want to lose. As long as Tito fights Ken as soon as he's fit then i got no problem with that. i really dont see it being a fear thing, ala the Chuck Liddell situation, what possible reason would Tito have to be scared of Ken after the beating he dished out last time?

Sounds great HBK! biggrin.gif Although I don't like that Tim and AA are already in for the rubber match. glare.gif Shouldn't be AA vs Monson, and then the winner versus Tim? huh.gif

I like the Forrest vs Ken fight though!!! Go Forrest!!!!! Forest by KO in 1 wink.gif

Tito might be afraid that the smashed ACL is the only reason he got the win against Ken.

I dont like that its coming so soon. I would like for them to build it up more and hold it off until like August or September and build a few more contenders up.
