I just saw an interview with Ricco from way back right before UFC 37 and in the interview he said he use to weigh 310lbs before he got seriously into MMA and hooked up with the Machado brothers. So this makes me think.

1-He has always struggled with weight problems

2-If he was capable of losing all that weight before he is capable of doing it again.

The only question is will he ever get serious enough with his training to want to get back down in weight again and be fit?

He looks like the Marshmellow man. Regardless he still got jobbed against Big Nog.

I thought so two the first two times I watched it but then I found out Pride's criteria is based around who came closest to finishing the fight and who tried the hardest to finish the fight. For the most part Ricco did good but Nog was trying submission attempt after submission attempt trying to finish Ricco. In turn Ricco went into his escapes booklet and pulled off every escape he could out of Nog's submission attemps. That was beautiful when he rolled out of that armbar the way he did. The only problem is you don't get as much credit for defending submissions and Ricco was too busy defending submissions instead of trying to pull off some of his own and finish the fight himself.

So based on Pride's criteria I'd say Nog won that fight. If this were UFC where you score it round by round then I suppose you could argue Ricco won because he did very good standing up when they were on there feet but In my opinion he just didn't do enough to try finishing the fight like Nog did.

This is when he is in his best shape around 230-240lbs.

Never been a fan of his, he's too easily discouraged and lacked heart and didn't seem to hit too hard or have heavyweight type strenght. I was happy when Silvia KO'd him. He was a farse of a heavyweight champion.
